Mathematics, the study of the measurement, properties, and relationships of quantities and sets, using numbers and symbols, involves patterns, computational skill, problem solving, measurement and geometric skills. The CAHS mathematics curriculum is designed to meet the individual differences in ability, interest, and future educational/life goals. Though it follows a traditional sequence of courses the curriculum has two basic goals; (1) to insure students mastery of basic mathematical skills (computation, problem solving, applications, and computer literacy), and (2) to develop the mathematics competencies required for advanced training or education.
The content of each course follows the recommendations of UC and CSU for academic preparation in mathematics, and the most current California State Content Standards.
