CAHS English philosophy is based on the idea that the English language is the basis for all other subjects. The mastery of the English language includes the understanding of how language, communication, and written words have changed over time, and how they are effectively utilized in today’s society. Students will continue to develop skills in reading, writing and speaking, while applying these skills through improved thought processes and communication skills. Students enhance positive, authentic learning by relating topics and readings to current events and experiences.
The content of each course follows the recommendations of UC and CSU for academic preparation in world language and the most current California State Content Standards.
